The Samundra is an interstellar freighter I built in the summer of 2002 in order to give expression to a raging case of shiplove that had seized me since seeing Attack of the Clones. A number of the craft seen in that movie inspired me, especially the Naboo Royal Cruiser (a version of which I am still working on) and the Refugee Starfreighter (which was the starting point for the Samundra). To round out my festival of derivative design I also drew from Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder from A New Hope and the Event Horizon spaceship from the very bad movie of the same name. (Addendum: follow-up shiplove.)

Since I do not really have any place to put the Samundra into action right now, the fruits of my nerdliness have ended up here on this page. If you like, you can download a movie clip of the ship's trial runs: on a lazy Sunday afternoon I made the ship take off, fly around, and land in an unfinished adventure.
